Poco F1 is the cheapest flagship right now. Interestingly, the phone almost won a Blind Camera test MKBHD recently conducted. Now, Poco F1’s latest MIUI 10 8.12.4 Beta supports 960fps slow motion videos and Super low-light mode. The OTA update is available for Beta testers and the features are still experimental.
MIUI 10 8.12.4 Beta for Poco F1
C Manmohan, the General Manager of Poco India tweeted a screenshot of the OTA update:-
As you can see, it’s a nightly update. So, you can expect updates to the new camera features regularly. The update weighs 184MB. Manmohan also says, since the features are on the latest Beta update, they might have issues.
Let’s take a deeper look at what these features mean for a Poco user.
1. 960fps slow motion video
960fps slow motion videos are nothing new in the smartphone world. Sony’s Xperia XZ series was the first to introduce it last year. More recently, Xiaomi brought it to their Mi Mix 3. Other manufacturers still have to take it up. We yet have to see how it performs. But, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 at it’s core, Poco F1 could do it good.
2. Super low-light mode
Night and low-light photography is the hype now. Google introduced their Night Sight with the Pixel 3 and OnePlus, the Nightscape with OnePlus 6T. Now, with the Beta update, Poco F1 also takes a shot at low light photography. We, yet have to see how this performs.
Poco is yet to deliver on their promise of 4K 60fps video capability. But, the low light mode and 960fps videos are a good addition too. If you are a beta tester and have updated to this build, let us know how it looks.
