Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 Lite XL are expected to launch by May in US and India. We were under the assumption that the phones will run on Snapdragon 670. Now, Geekbench listing of Pixel 3 Lite XL hints at Snapdragon 710 SoC with 6GB RAM.
Pixel 3 Lite XL leaked on Geekbench: 6GB RAM
Earlier leaks have shown that Pixel 3 will have Snapdragon 670 with 4GB RAM. But, this Geekbench listing shows that the Pixel 3 Lite XL will have a faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC with 6GB RAM.
The highlight though is the 6GB RAM. Seems like Google has finally understood the importance of memory. In an era where almost every phone has minimum 6GB RAM, Google chose to stick with 4GB on their latest flagships, Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL.
That did hit them back though. Multiple users complained about Memory management issues on the latest Pixel 3s. Google issued updates in December,2018 and January, 2019 to fix memory management issues on Pixel 3 and the earlier gen Pixel 2.
Anyways, it’s good that Google is finally going for 6GB RAM on the Pixel. And, Pixel 3 Lite XL will be the firt Pixel with 6GB RAM. That being said, we have learned that all the Pixel 3 phones including the Lite series come with the same Pixel Visual Core. So, irrespective of the processor, we can expect very similar Camera performance on all these phones.
The Geekbench listing shows the P3 Lite XL scores 1805 in Single Core Benchmark and 5790 in Multi Core.
Snapdragon 710 is expected to boost the performance of the Lite XL too. Both SD670 and SD710 are built on 10nm. But, SD710 has a slightly better GPU, better LTE modem, etc.
2019 is going to be the year of budget phones, I guess. Samsung India has announced their budget Galaxy M series (to launch on 28th January). Xiaomi recently released their affordable 48MP Camera equipped Redmi Note 7.
