Pixel 3 Lite Hands On Video Review leaked: Full Plastic Body, Snapdragon 670 and more details

Pixel 3 Lite leaked in a hands on review video revealing specs and details

Rumour is Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 Lite XL will launch around May or earlier. If that’s true, we should be seeing a lot of Pixel 3 Lite leaks by now (guessing from what we saw with the Pixel 3 in 2018) and, we have! A Pixel 3 Lite Hands On Video reviews the budget handset and gives us a few more details about the handset.

We already have seen tons of images of the Pixel 3 Lite. The first ones being shared back in November, 2018. And, then we saw images of Pixel 3 Lite compared to others including several iPhones and Pixels.

Pixel 3 Lite Review Video

Below is the video I am talking about. Thanks to Andro News for this video:-

UPDATE: The video was removed. But, check out the latest Pixel 3 Lite Leaks.

One of the first things I noticed in the video is the default Russian language. And, the reviewer says that it’s a pre-production unit. I am guessing the source of these Pixel 3 Lite units is the same, maybe a Ukranian or Russian supplier.

Let’s get on to the details, shall we? Andro News makes certain things clear. I have pointed them out one by one.

1. Full Plastic Body with few design changes

We knew this from the beginning. Being a budget handset, Pixel 3 Lite uses full plastic body, as opposed to Pixel 3’s Glass body. So, as I have mentioned before, let’s not expect Wireless Charging and Pixel Stand compatibility on the Lite version.

The Power button and volume rockers are on the right side. And, unlike the Pixel 3 (like Pixel 2), Pixel 3 Lite has the SIM tray on the left side. The Power button is brighter than the Pixel 3’s. This could be due to the use of plastic.

2. Snapdragon 670 SoC

Thanks to the earlier leaks, we already know Pixel 3 Lite will debut Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 SoC built on 10nm process. Andro News says that the SoC is so new that even some Benchmarking apps aren’t able to recognise it. But, he also adds that performance-wise, the mid-range SoC is not bad. Please note that, it was his first impression.

Powering the Pixel 3 Lite is 4GB RAM with 32GB ROM. Note that even the Pixel 3 running on a Snapdragon 845 has 4GB RAM. But, a Geekbench listing claims that the larger Pixel 3 Lite XL will feature Snapdragon 710 with 6GB RAM making it the first Pixel to have 6GB RAM.

3. Same Camera performance as Pixel 3

Pixel 3 was announced with an updated Visual Core. And, whole set of new Camera features. Pixel 3 Lite leakers have claimed that though the phone has a lower powered Snapdragon 670, it has the same Visual Core as Pixel 3. So, you could capture photos on the Pixel 3 Lite as good as a Pixel 3.

Andro News’ review re-confirms this statement. So, if you are looking for Pixel 3-like Camera on a budget, Pixel 3 Lite could be the phone for you. Pixel 3 Lite though lacks the Dual Front Camera. So, no Wide Angle selfies like the Pixel 3.

4. Pixel 3 like Battery life

Pixel 3 Lite also has a 2915mAh Battery like the Pixel 3. So, you can expect similar battery life. Infact, housing a Snapdragon 670, you can expect slightly better battery life on Pixel 3 Lite than on Pixel 3.

5. Type-C Port with 3.5mm Port

This is yet another positive point for the Pixel 3 Lite. The Lite version has a USB Type-C port on the bottom with a 3.5mm Port on the top.

Most flagships including Pixel 3, OnePlus 6T dumped the 3.5mm port.

Pixel 3 Specs

Now, let’s take a quick look at the specs of the Pixel 3:-

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 SoC with Adreno 615 GPU
  • 4GB RAM
  • ROM – 32GB
  • 5.56″ Display (1080x2160px, 18:9 Aspect Ratio with 434 ppi density)
  • Single 12.2MP Rear Camera (f/1.8)
  • Single 8MP Front Camera
  • 2915mAh Battery

32GB Internal Storage is very low for a device like Pixel 3 Lite. With HDR+ pictures and 4K videos, it’s very easy to fill that space up. But, thanks to Google’s Cloud Offer, you can store all your pictures and videos in their original quality.

But, I do believe, we will see larger ROM variants of Pixel 3 Lite on launch.

With Redmi Note 7, Samsung Galaxy M series and more, seems like 2019 is going to be the year of budget phones. For Pixel 3 Lite though, the Camera will be the strong point. What do you guys think? Will you buy the Pixel 3 Lite?
